Metal Detector Storage & Maintenance Tips
Investing in a high-quality metal detector requires proper care to preserve its performance and lifespan. Storing your device correctly protects its sensitive electronics and ensures reliable operation for years to come. Here are essential tips for metal detector maintenance and storage.
1. Clean the Device Before Storing
Always clean your detector thoroughly before long-term storage. Remove dirt, mud, and dust from shafts and search coils, and wipe down connectors using a soft cloth.
2. Use Suitable Storage Containers
Store your detector in padded, dedicated carrying cases or hard cases to guard against impacts, scratches, and accidental drops.
3. Keep Away from Moisture and Humidity
Protect electronic control boxes from damp conditions. Moisture causes corrosion on internal circuits. Adding silica gel packets to your storage case offers additional protection.
4. Store in a Cool, Dry, and Dark Place
Keep your equipment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations, which can degrade housing plastics and internal components.
5. Remove Batteries Before Storing
If your detector uses removable batteries, always extract them before storing for long periods to prevent acid leakage damage.
