Which Search Coil Should I Use and Where?
Choosing the Right Search Coil
Selecting the proper search coil configuration depends heavily on your search location, target size, and soil mineralization levels.
Small vs. Large Search Coils
Small Coils: Excel in trashy ground conditions (parks, iron-riddled fields) due to superior target separation. They are also ideal for tight spaces like woods and water hunting due to lower drag.
Large Coils: Provide deeper target detection and cover ground much faster, making them ideal for wide-open, clean fields.
Coil Configurations Explained:
Double-D (DD) Coils: Perform exceptionally well in mineralized or salty soil conditions while maintaining broad detection coverage.
Concentric Coils: Offer the most precise pinpointing and target identification, but require slower swing rates.
Monoloop Coils: Primarily used on Pulse Induction (PI) detectors to achieve maximum depth capabilities.
